Gottacon 2014 - Emperor's Children

So, gonna do the Chaos thing next year, and no more messing around, the work started TONIGHT.

First the list, I actually overcharged on my Heldrakes, so have 10 points floating around..will see where we can do some tweaking.

Now, I dont have a ton of this, but I am going to start some work anyway. I picked up a Heldrake kit at 30% off and started work on it, this is going to be my magnum opus, my best army and work so as much conversion work as I can get in, I will be. No pics yet, but as I get stuff built and started, it will make its way here.

Possible bits.

Sang Guard kit. I have too many of them to not use...
Raptor kit.
Some 3rd party stuff.
Sonic Weapons. Ebay is a wasteland, there is nothing! I may have to bite it and get the Finecast sets, some reviews are saying these are pretty good though.
Forge World is going to be involved. A dread, some shoulder pads (a lot actually) and some tank kits and probably the new brass etching to wrap it all up.

I've found myself wanting an invulnerable save for all my ICs.

Checked yer list, its actually 30 points shy 30 points should give you lots to play with, like adding aura of dark glory (15) or even Sigil of corruption (25) for your lord.
List looks awesome.

30 points?! I was building it out of my head mostly, where did I go wrong other then the drakes?

If anything, I'll get an invuln on the Sorc, I dont think I care about the Chaos Lord that much, he's not the Warlord.

Not sure what you added up differently, I did it both by hand and with army builder, and both times came up with 1720 points.
Missing out on 20 points could have been just about anything

Ok, I'll try and figure that out.

In other news, more building done on the Heldrake, and extended the tail with my zombie dragon's. Legs tomorrow.

Status update!

Played with some points in the list, and built the starting of the Chaos Lord (PF/LC) and the other Noise Marine Champ, now with LC instead of PW. Using Raptor legs and weapons, a Warp Talon Head, and the Slaanesh CSM head with the big spike + Torso's from Sanguinary Guard, because lets face it, if there is an army that needs Nipple Armour, its an Emperors Children army!

What I am thinking, is making this a near daily with larger Weekly, updates with Pics and such as well as soon as I figure out my camera.

Gotta figure out a 1k list as well for end of March!

Hmm, didnt make that 1K list....

I did build the other wing structure, and started working on the legs for the heldrake.

Lets see.

750 points to drop to 1k, thats probably going to need to be a drake and a few of the troops, probably will need to go completely different from the 1750 list.

Bunch of work today around the house, but also with the Heldrake. I've got priming started, its all built in sub components (left wing, right wing, body, head) and I added the more realistic proportioned hind legs from the Zombie Dragon kit. Fairly happy with it so far.

Question is though, we all know Baleflames are gross, but should I go 1 Baleflamer, 1 Hades? Or just double up on one type? I have with the Noise Marines a lot of stuff already avoiding cover, and some AP3, so think Hades is the way to go as more dedicated Anti-Flyer.

Some more building done today, it was rainy, or wanting to rain, so I didnt do any priming. Will likely do some painting later.

I tweaked the legs on the Heldrake, going to do some greenstuff work on the joints, but its coming together.

I built 1 of the CC squads, using the majority of the raptor box. I think they came out pretty well, very dynamic poses, looks like they have some motion to them.

Rawr! Greenstuff on the legs, tail and some little gaps. Hips tomorrow.

After I reattach and greenstuff the hips I'll try and get some shots up of the drake. The marines, I want to get a bit closer to a finished state, right now its just the pink with some highlights, I still need to the do the 'black' which is going to be a really dark grey really, more like my Assassin.

'...and the hateful Orb did expose itself for a time (5 minutes) so hissing cylinders where brought out and inky spray did fly...'

We got some sun today, I sprayed my Lord and 4 CC Marines and the Heldrakes wings.

Reattached the legs on the Heldrake as well, will finish greenstuff and with a quick sacrifice to Slaanesh, hopefully the sun again shows itself tomorrow so I can finish priming the drake!

Ok so a few updates.

Did some work on the Lord, really dig the effect I got out of the Lightning Claw, somewhat happy on the head, but the pink is getting me down, I am happy with it but its hard to replicate as I am going up a lot of shades. Need to work on finding a solution that can be applied across the army.

Heldrakes Legs are in, greenstuffed and primed.

Iteration of the list at 1750 as well. I've ran these numbers several times, they should be good. I have Veteran's and Melta Bombs thrown around a lot, its a decent amount of points, and I have 5 left as is, so I think we could likely work on this and tighten it up a bit.

Really nice base here. the Annihilator Pred is a great fit too.

Yeah, I am going to see what the Daemons book brings. If its not great thematically, I'll likely stick with that.

As an update, I had hit a funk due to issues with keeping my paint mixing consistent, but then I found a bottle of Elf Flesh paint, nearly full that fixed it!

Hopefully get some solid work done this weekend.

Picked up some more models, and did some orders online, hopefully it all gets here inside a few weeks so I can build my 1k list...

I also picked up a new paint, Squid Pink from Vellejo. I like it a lot more. Did base coats on 6 + the Lord, picked out some details, and base coats on the 'flesh' of the heldrake.

Terrible dice aside, my 1k version did ok. The Baleflamer drake is insanely effective.

Anything that stands out as good or bad? Any tweaks needed?

Baleflamer makes the Codex at this point. Its insane stupid good against MEQ, and is really just the diamond of the book.

Noise Marines did well, being fearless off the hop is well worth it, and there are a number of builds to use for the unit.

Mixed Shooting (Blaster/Blastmaster).

Very good unit.

Predator did poorly, I dont know may go a different route, but it was just one game. The other option is Havocs with 4xAC, however then I lose the S9 which is all I have to deal with LR's at 1k Points. At 1750 I have the Dread as well at least.
