The idea really is to just flood the board with marines.

Its a mobile army thats for sure.
What would you be looking at in terms of survivability, the sheer numbers of marines? Maybe an aegis line? Or use the drop pod and stormeagle to add power?

Yeah, numbers, mobility, and Divination.

The Sternguard are throw aways, same as the Dread really, the rest of the troops just clean up and gang up, in theory.

any chance to squeeze in Corbulo? (holding a piece of Night Haunters Cloak?) he's a super-tank, good to boost the Tac/Vet squads so they last the game.

bodycount is great here. I like the threat diffusion too, and your anti-flyer is versitile and survivable!

11 Melta-Guns, something is going to get close enough to whatever I want to die.

Lib (with any of the Jumpers really) probably goes Divination, and probably gives Prescience to the Dread, who hopefully chomps on a unit or 2 over the course of the game.

Sternguard are suicidal, and go after big monsters.

Lightning Claws are pound for pound, the best Sergeant level upgrade for MEQ mutually assured death. :p

If someone spams drakes, I hope to go second I guess, and kill at least one when I come on the board with my SR, trying to fit Corbullo...possible.

I really wonder if it would be better to diversify. Realistically people probably try to go for an all-comers type list right? So why even bring tanks, just swamp the board with bodies?

Yes, there is something to that. You bet on opponents spending points on Skyfire and dedicated anti-tank, leaving them overwhelmed by numbers. I think you'll need 80+ marine bodies..... painting....

Would you enjoy a massive horde of marines? Not something that is seen very often for sure, but would it be fun to play?

Well, I will need to think on it, it's a list I have always wanted though, my first BA army (I dont think you guys ever saw it?) was pure jumper/scouts.

The other option, would be to swing 100% the other way, go walker/tank heavy, but then monsters would potentially beat me up. ;p

Very nice. I'm guessing points are tight, so 50 for Epistolary will seriously hamper something else?

also, what's the loadout on your furioso? Bloodclaws, HFlame, melta? BTW this will look AMAZING as Night Lords!!!

Essentially any 'bloat' is in the number of Sternguard. At 25 a pop, non-scoring, single wound, and terrible in CC...all they have going is that they are the best best against Monsters. :/

The Furioso is naked, so SB/Melta, though dropping one Sternguard, I could get the Heavy Flamer, and throw a power weapon on the Sternguard Sergeant, since he's likely to eat a challenge.

OK, 8 Sternguard, H. Flame option for chaff clearing. the PW is decent, but consider Vehicle upgrades too: Hunter Killer Missle, Dozer blades and/or Searchlights(though maybe not themey) might do as much work over several games...

Yeah, going to go for that. 8 SG, 2 Melta, Sarg has a Power Maul.

Why?

1. I built a cool model for that, and the Maul looks wicked. :p
2. I went digging and found 5 Deathwatch Bolters, 1 'Master Crafted' Bolter from I have no idea.

I can't wait to see a bunch of these squads comming together.... once all nice and dark it will be very sinister.

any thought to a 'deaths head' look with white/bone/red heads?

Yeah I really need to hammer out a lot of painting this week. The various shades/styles I'll be going for.

Straight blue.
Blue with silver faceplate + 'blood' tears.
Blue with lightning
Blue with skull/bone.

The lightning I had done before, but its intimidating and didnt work out the most recent time I tried.

Ok so to focus on the goal here, its going to be an update daily, until we are done.

1. 10 Tacticals are about 75%. I still need to touch up the lightning on a few, last highlights if I go for it. Thats only going to leave me the bases. Which I despise doing...

2. 10 Assault, with the 2 Melta, 1 LC, are built, and primed. Tomorrow is going to be their turn for the chain paint formula.

Which is btw.

That gets the armour to where the Tacticals are.

3. 8 Sternguard, with 2 Melta, 1 Power Maul, are built and primed. If I can stomach it, they will also get the chain paint up to completion of the blue.

Then its Lightning, Eyes/Shoulderpads, and Metals in a basic Boltgun -> Black Wash method for both of those units, which gets them ALL the way up to the tacticals, and all of which need bases.  

Today

Touch ups on secondary armour (elbows, knees, collars on the MKII plate) in a dark grey.

Tomorrow

Contemptor SHOULD arrive, cut out, soak, wash, dry.

Finish the blue on the armour, do the first metals, and the reds on the eyes, and shoulder pads.
